Developers Crescent Communities and Endeavor Real Estate Group both announced today Sky Cinemas as the first anchor tenant for Belterra Village, a 90-plus-acre mixed-use project to open in Southwest Austin off Hwy. 290 near the Nutty Brown Road intersection in 2017.

Sky Cinemas, from the creators of  Violet Crown Cinema in downtown Austin, will feature 14 movie screens, reclining seats with tray tables, a dining area and outdoor beer garden. The family-friendly menu will include salads, burgers, fries, shakes, regional beers on tap and wines by the glass. Wait service will not occur inside the movie auditoriums, but seats can be reserved online or at the theater, according to a news release by Crescent and Endeavor.

In contrast with Violet Crown Cinema’s independent, art house and foreign screenings, Sky Cinemas will show blockbuster, family and select independent films, according to the news release.

“Sky Cinemas represents our effort to bring the highest-quality cinema experience to growing suburban areas, and we’re excited to launch the first Sky Cinemas in Dripping Springs to expand on its already family-friendly, fun, local culture,” Sky Cinemas founder Bill Banowsky said in a news release. “The theater conveys our reimagining of the traditional cinema business. We’ve taken from all of our experiences in cinema—both traditional and specialized—and are bringing the best of each to Sky Cinemas, including plush reclining seats and auditoriums, designed with a more intimate scale, similar to what we’ve done in Violet Crown.”

Crescent and Endeavor also announced Breed & Company, a local hardware and homeware store, as the second anchor for Belterra Village.

Belterra Village, a 90-plus acre mixed-use development by Crescent Communities and Endeavor Real Estate Group, is located near the intersection of West Hwy. 290 and Nutty Brown Road.

The first phase of Belterra Village will include more than 200,000 square feet of retail, restaurants, a hotel, medical offices and a senior living community. Of that square footage, 85,000 square feet has been leased to retail stores and restaurants, according to a news release.

Belterra Village construction is schedule for the fall with an opening for tenants in fall 2017, according to a news release.
